How to stop the boy who cried wolf from getting bored - Athea's Learning

This week in Room 3 our storytelling session has been on The Boy Who Cried Wolf.  Athea came up with some ideas to help the boy of things to do instead of crying wolf. How do you stop yourself becoming bored?

What the boy should have done when he was bored

He should ask someone to play chess with him

He could just read a book

He could eat some food while hes watching them

He could be drawing a picture

He could be playing with some toys

He could be practising if there was a REAL WOLF

He could be calling some friends on call

He should’ve thinked before doing it because he knew he was getting in trouble

He could play with his friends while watching the sheep by @Athea

Daffodil Day

Today is Daffodil Day, today we remember those who are affected by Cancer. The Cancer society raises money to help people who are living with Cancer. Sadly today they can not hold their annual appeal. They are encouraging people to draw and make Daffodils and put them in their windows, then when people are out on their walks they will see all the daffodils just like they did with all the bears in the windows. Room 3 students at STB were set the challenge of making a daffodil for their windows. Look at some of the great creations that they have been working on from home! Have you put a daffodil in your window

All schools, shops and work places are closed unless they are classed as essential.  Room 3 have started online learning and have been working very hard creating some fabulous pieces of work to share with their family and on their blogs. Olympic Medals

David has been learning about the Olympics. He was really interested to learn the process that went into making the medals for the Tokyo Olympics. They are made using old cell phones and devices, so everyone from Japan has played a part in making the medals. David created his own medal based around his culture and community. We imagined that the Olympics were going to be held in Christchurch where we live in 2040 Check it out on the link below. Medal Design

The Tokyo Olympics 2020

This term Room 3 has enjoyed learning about the Olympics. In maths we have created medal tables. In reading learnt about the history of the Olympics. In PE we are learning about Athletics and will host our own Junior School Mini Olympics. In writing we have been researching athletes and creating biographies about them. For Religous Education we compared our School C.E.R.R  values to the Olympic values of Friendship, Excellence and Resepct. For art we have also used our design skills to create new mascots and medals. We had to imagine that the Olympics was going to be held in Hei Hei Christchurch where we live. The medal needed to reflect our culture, and heritage. The one shown in the picture has Samoan art deisgns on the strap and the

back of the medal. What would you put on your medal?

Matariki Feast

As part of our Matariki (Maori New Year)  celebrations we made soup from the vegetables we harvested from the school garden. We shared the soup with our friends and whanau across the school. We thought it was very yummy and it was nice to eat the vegetables we had grown ourselves. We also made star shaped cookies and cakes to represent the stars of

Matariki that can be seen during this time of year. How do  you do to celebrate New Year?

Matariki

We are learning about Matariki, we have read lots of books about Matariki and created some art work to show our learning. We learnt how to weave our own Matariki star using wool and card.  One of our favourite legends about Matariki was the Seven Kites of Matariki. We made our own kite the kite had patterns that represented our culutre and local area Hornby - Christchurch. We had fun flying our kites and taking them home to share with our family and whanau. Have you created any art for Matariki
